 Ugh. Dad's being discouraging. He's pressuring me to get a job. Trust me, getting a job is important to me. I enjoy making money; books don't buy themselves. However, I think it's also important to recover from the shit I just went through. The harassment wouldn't be so bad, except that he totally disregarded what I'm working on. I mentioned how I was going to make it to 10,000 words tonight. 10,000 words is 1) a lot and 2) really good for someone who had a hard time writing. I'm sure he didn't mean to do it on purpose, I just feel like he has unreal expectations of me. Just because I packed up my stuff and left the house doesn't mean what happened hurt less.

Well, I think 10,000 words is totally amazing/impressive, for what it counts. I also thinks it's important because (though maybe this is just me, and if that's the case, I'm sorry for assuming) writing can be therapeutic. So can achieving 10,000 a couple days early.

Maybe you should explain to him how hurt you are about the whole ordeal that just went down LAST week. Your routine just got flipped upside in a matter of a week, so obviously you need to time to recuperate. It would probably help also to remind him it's only been what -- two or three days?

Hang in there. (I feel like this all I say to people these days...)

Yeah, I definitely think you need to explain that you need time to adjust to the new situation you're in...and it takes time to find a job. Maybe it'd make him happy if you just went on..whatever people go on to find jobs...and listed a ocuple options but say you're going to wait to a) finishing writing and b) get into the rythem of things.

compromise is good.

@Frodoholic -

I am looking on those sites, that's not good enough for Dad. The thing is, all the jobs posted on there are jobs I'm not qualified for. I don't know what an assistant phlebotomist is, but I'm pretty sure I don't have that certificate.
